Our parish family responded in a big way to Father Charlie's Lenten Message Series on the Corporal Works of Mercy. Here are some of the wins from the season:
Our Ministers of Care/Lazarus Society visit sick members, visit 12 nursing homes in our parish boundaries, help at funerals, and accompany members through times of pain and grief. After Father Charlie asked those we were called to serve to volunteer, the number went from 30 volunteers at the beginning of the series to 130 at the end of the Lenten season.
We also went from having 15 volunteers at our local food pantry & mobile meals to people without homes to an additional 70 volunteers, ending at 85 volunteers by the end of the season.
Alan Grahams led the Lenten Mission talk, drawing about 200-250 people each night. Many of you donated toiletries, socks, and food for the S.O.S. project and Social ministry volunteers put together care bags and handed them to neighbors in need. There were over 250 bags; some recipients of the bags said they saw Christ in this act of generosity and kindness.
We had close to 4,800 attendance for Palm Sunday versus an average of 2,900-3,000 per weekend!
Thank you, parish family, for being led by the Holy Spirit!
