Hospitality ministers (ushers/greeters) are an important part of the liturgy. These ministers welcome parishioners to mass and assist them in preparing for worship by finding a place, distributing worship aides, selecting someone to carry the offering, guiding parishioners to Communion and bidding them farewell at the end of mass.
Hospitality ministers also help with the collections and answer questions for visitors and guests. Hospitality ministers are attentive to the needs of the congregation, knowledgeable about what is happening in the parish, and have a friendly, welcoming attitude.
Throughout the year, there are special masses that require Hospitality ministers-these including Easter, Holy Week, Christmas, Multicultural Mass, and Diocesan events. All who serve are expected to participate in at least one of these special masses.
