The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given to any baptized Catholic who is seriously ill or about to have surgery. The sacrament may be repeated if the person recovers and then falls ill again, or if the person's condition worsens. Only a priest or bishop may administer this sacrament. Request this sacrament by calling 512-473-6412. Viaticum is Holy Communion given to the dying.
There are twelve nursing homes and two hospitals in our parish boundaries. Mass is offered monthly by our priests. Confessions are heard by our priests when they visit for Mass. Communion Services are offered weekly by our Chaplain and lay communion ministers, and individual prayer visits can be arranged as needed. In addition, if a parishioner is in a facility outside of our parish boundaries, arrangements can be made to have Communion brought weekly. Contact Chaplain Debbie at [email protected]. If you or a loved one could benefit from being covered in prayer during an illness or loss of a loved one, you may request a Prayer Blanket. Contact [email protected] to order yours. Limit one per request. For more information on this ministry, click here.
In the Catholic tradition Funeral Rites consist of three parts: Vigil (which may or may not include a Rosary), Funeral Mass, and the prayers said at the Internment (burial). Funerals may be celebrated with the body in the Church or cremains. When a death occurs please know of our prayers for you and your loved one. Contact the parish at 512-837-7825 and your funeral home or cremation service to make arrangements. You may also contact Chaplain Debbie at [email protected]. Your parish family walks with you when you suffer the loss of a loved one. Bereavement Support Group classes are offered several times a year. Individual grief counseling is also available. Contact Chaplain Debbie at [email protected].
The Lazarus Society consists of individual laypersons who commit to show up at funerals to pray for the deceased and their loved ones, offer tissue to those who need it, stay for the Mass, and help serve if there is a funeral reception. But most importantly members contact family each month for the next calendar year to see how they are doing and to offer support. For more information, contact Chaplain Debbie at [email protected].
